Chiropractic is founded on the principle of prevention. After a detailed examination to ensure that you are a good candidate for chiropractic, Dr. Cassie and the patient may discuss if an adjustment is right for their case. When joints are misaligned, or subluxated, they put pressure on nerves and tissues in that area. For example, misalignments in the neck may cause symptoms like neck pain, headaches, or pains radiating down the arm. Whereas misalignments in the low back can cause symptoms like back pain or pains radiating down the leg.
A chiropractic adjustment involves a specific thrust to a spinal joint or an extremity joint that mobilizes the area and relieves pressure on any surrounding nerves or tissues. This can be done by hand or with a chiropractic adjusting tool, such as an activator. Adjustments are safe, gentle, and effective for people of all ages. Dr. Cassie has been trained in a variety of techniques that allows her to work on everybody. Specific techniques used at First Care Chiropractic can be seen below.
The doctor uses the patient's case history and physical health to decide which style of adjusting is best for that patient. If you have been to a chiropractor before and that technique did not work for you, please let Dr. Cassie know and we can accommodate appropriately.
